Anchorman 2 Ain’t Dead Yet
Jump for joy, ANCHORMAN fans. The sequel that you have long been hoping for that the kibosh was seemingly put on a few months ago isn’t quite dead yet. It’s on life support and probably being sustained by a feeding tube, and it might not even have substantial brain function… but it’s still technically alive.
After Adam McKay revealed that Paramount rejected efforts to move forward on ANCHORMAN 2, it appears that the studio might be having second thoughts after seeing the outpouring of outrage and support from fans upon hearing the news that a sequel was turned down.
In an exclusive interview with Collider, director and producer McKay stated that his tweets keeping fans in the loop may have helped keep hope alive, as they took notice to how many people actually do want to see the return of Ron Burgundy. ““It did, it made a difference. Paramount heard it. Adam Goodman, the President of Paramount, was on the first one so he loves it and when that outcry came, he was kind of excited because he knew it could maybe push it towards happening. That having been said, I’m clearly going into it like another movie so if it does happen it’s still two years away or a ways away. And I haven’t talked to anyone. There’s nothing happening right now but it helped, it helped.”
It’s not a lot… but it’s something, and something’s more than nothing, so be pleased with where you’re at, ANCHORMAN fans. Granted, the prospects for this sequel could be a lot better… but they could be much much worse, too.
