Bradley Cooper And Ryan Reynolds Try To Out-Smart-Ass Each Other In Buddy Cop Movie
Typically buddy cop movies are put together with 2 completely polar opposites when it comes to the characters involved, in order to create as much conflict as possible, so the hijinks and shenanigans will follow. But did anyone every wonder what would happen if you took 2 guys who were almost exactly the same and thrust them together in the formula? Well, we’re about to find out as cool and witty smart-ass Bradley Cooper is set to team up with cool and witty smart-ass Ryan Reynolds as partners in an untitled film from Sheldon Turner, who wrote UP IN THE AIR.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that both actors are attached to star in the film that would have Cooper and Reynolds playing San Francisco cops, whose fathers were once partners on the police force. The dads, now older and long retired, are forced back into action to help their sons nail the bad guys and solve the case. I bet they’re getting too old for this shit.
At one point, the project was titled BLOWBACK and had The Rock attached to star and take one of the roles, but instead he went on making movies like THE TOOTH FAIRY and satisfying his buddy cop urge with a lesser role in THE OTHER GUYS. I smell what The Rock was cookin’ on that one, and it has the distinct odor of bad decision… but with a side of mashed potatoes.
Cooper has yet to build on his career following THE HANGOVER, with THE A-TEAM and ALL ABOUT STEVE hardly being big hits (VALENTINE’S DAY, on the other hand, made serious bank, but he had a small role in the ensemble cast). That should change once THE HANGOVER 2 rolls around, but that’s still a ways off. Reynolds though couldn’t be hotter, as BURIED should help raise him to the next level, and, by next summer, when GREEN LANTERN rolls around, he’ll be able to do any project he wants. And that can only mean good things for this film with him a part of it.
