Sometimes when things go bad, you need a place to hide out, somewhere you can let things cool out before making your next movie, a secure location… a safe house of sorts. We’ve got a safe haven for you to get comfortable in for a few hours next Tuesday, February 7, at 7:30 p.m. at AMC Sunset Place 24 in South Miami for an ad advance screening of the new Universal action-thriller SAFE HOUSE, starring Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds. REAL STEEL was a really fun time at the movies for me last year. It had all the robot fighting I wish Michael Bay’s TRANSFORMERS debacles would have had, without the LaBeouf and the idiotic plot, and there are enough similarities to ROCKY to keep it from going off the rails of silliness. Bottom line: it’s entertaining as hell and draws you into its underdog story.

Therefore, I thought it’d be a pretty nice opportunity for you to have a shot at winning one of five REAL STEEL Blu-ray/DVD combo packs, courtesy of Touchstone Home Entertainment and DreamWorks Pictures. The era of Harry Potter is over, so it’s onto new things for Daniel Radcliffe. He’s already been transitioning out of the iconic wizarding role for some time with some stage work, but THE WOMAN IN BLACK is the first major film he’s taken on since he first donned those Gryffindor robes. In the past, it’s been quite difficult to find movies to rally around for my birthday. Celebrating in the middle of January is like having a party in the middle of a garbage dump, with studios dropping their junk like clockwork around my special day. However, this year was different. I wanted to do something special around my birthday. I wanted to create an awesome opportunity for people to come together and experience the love I have for movies with something cool. We explored a few different options as to what we could do, but, last month, when I got to see THE GREY, it was pretty clear. That was the movie I wanted to share. I absolutely love THE GREY, so much so that I needed to be talked off the ledge a bit from wanting to consider it for year-end Top 10 for 2011, having seen it late in December, as opposed to having to wait a full year to possibly still give the film its due. It’s that good.

Open Road Films has lined up an advance screening of THE GREY on Tuesday night, January 24, at 7:30 p.m. at AMC Aventura 24 in Miami, and, even though it’s three days later than my birthday, they’ve set us up with reserved seats just for our guests to ring in the occasion. That’s where you come in.

THE GREY is so much more than Liam Neeson fighting some wolves. It’s about fighting for survival, and having something on the other side worth fighting for, something to get back to, something better than the shitty predicament you’re in. So, if you want to earn your way into our guaranteed seating section for THE GREY, I want to hear about who’s worth fighting for to you. If your plan crashed, and you were stuck out in the middle of Alaska being chased by wolves, and your only hope for survival was to make it happen yourself, who is it you’d be fighting to return safely to, who is it that’d be constantly in your mind, who is it that’d drive you to not give up. No one fights like Gaston… and no one quite gives opportunities like InfamousKidd.com. We’ve got a special one this time around, in the form of Disney’s re-release of BEAUTY & THE BEAST in 3-D. I’ve long been a fan of this modern Disney classic, as it was right in the middle of Disney’s revival in the 90s, surrounded by the likes of THE LITTLE MERMAID, ALADDIN and THE LION KING. It was the first animated film to land a Best Picture nomination from the Academy Awards for good reason, as it’s a fantastic story, rich with memorable characters and a strong disney soundtrack. Much like THE LION KING last year, this is a chance for those who saw BEAUTY & THE BEAST years ago to revisit it on the big screen once again, while presenting younger generations the chance to see it that way for the first time ever. I know I’ll be there with my little guy, showing him this great movie for the first time in a theatre, as I go back to another classic from my childhood. My wife and Jon Doe caught the 3-D Blu-ray of the film not too long ago, and relayed back to me that it looked fantastic, so here’s to hoping that translates well to the big screen, as I have heard positive reaction from some who saw it in that format months ago. But, back to the task at hand… sending you off to see BEAITY & THE BEAST in 3-D.

It’s a new year, and another fresh start for all of us here at InfamousKidd.com. 2011 took us to some new heights, including some incredible opportunities we probably wouldn’t have been able to achieve without your help, so it’s onwards and upwards for 2012, as we look to take things up a notch once again over the next calendar year.
