Check Yourself Before You Wreck Yourself With The Teaser Trailer For Due Date
You’d have to think that a movie starring Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis would be instantly piss-your-pants funny, but I’ve got to be honest… I’m a bit underwhelmed by the teaser trailer for their new film DUE DATE.
Granted, part of that might be as a result of the inclusion of Jamie Foxx, and the last time he and RDJ paired up, we got THE SOLOIST. However, he’s barely noticeable in this new teaser, and I felt myself waiting for more hilarious stuff to happen.
Am I worried? Not really. Todd Phillips’ track record is pretty strong, with ROAD TRIP, OLD SCHOOL, and THE HANGOVER on his resume, not to mention being the guy who really got The Dan Band some mainstream appeal by giving them appearances in his films. He also did STARSKY & HUTCH and SCHOOL FOR SCOUNDRELS, but whatever… they can’t all be winners. I just hope DUE DATE doesn’t fall into that latter category, because that’d be a shame for the talent involved.
I’m hoping this is one of those teasers just to get you interested in a movie starring RDJ and Galifianakis by handing out the tiniest taste and holding back all the hilarity for November 5 – the less is more approach – because, as badly as I’d love to see this movie make me laugh so hard that tears come out of my face, I’m not that impressed with our first meeting.
