Denzel Washington Wants To Wield 2 Guns With Mark Wahlberg
I actually did want to watch that SAFE HOUSE movie with Denzel and Ryan Reynolds. I’m not the biggest fan of either person, but seeing Denzel as such a motherfucking bad-ass, really made it more appealing. Well, this Oscar-winner is nearing his 60′s (He doesn’t really look it, does he?) and it doesn’t seem like he’s stopping any time soon. Aside from SAFE HOUSE, apparently he’s working on or just completed work on Robert Zemeckis’ FLIGHT flick that looks to be interesting. Now he’s looking at co-starring with Mark Wahlberg.
Deadline is saying that Denzel is currently negotiating a co-starring role in Universal’s adaptation of the Boom! Studios graphic novel, 2 Guns. Last we heard from this flick, Universal intended on bringing back the dream team behind CONTRABAND, Mark Wahlberg and director Baltasaur Kormakur. (Word around these parts is that the flick isn’t that great.) Anyway, the graphic novel is being adapted by screenwriter Blake Masters (Known for developing LAW AND ORDER: LA and creating drama series BROTHERHOOD.) The flick co-financier hasn’t been set yet, but Deadline seems sure it’ll be Emmett/Furla Films. Boom! Studios and Marc Platt will be producing the flick.
The graphic novel source material, written by Steven Grant (A relatively known comic book writer who had a stint on a Punisher mini-series), is about two undercover cops, one is a DEA agent and the other is a Naval Intelligence officer. They both are working undercover to steal money from the mob, intending to rip one another off because they don’t know that both are actually lawmen.
I honestly still can’t say that I’m that interested in this flick. The plot is somewhat interesting, but I’m not that big into crime-drama… or is it action? I guess I either got to read the graphic novel or wait to see how the flick is going to be marketed. For now, I’m somewhat intrigued, but not too interested quite yet. The casting of Denzel helps considerably, but not enough. Also wondering about that screenwriter when in October, they still had David O. Russell writing it.
