Every artist has or will have a lull in their careers including Cher, Madonna, and Prince so I don't exactly think that has a bearing on her name recognition. Besides the fact that I'm pretty sure they were going for a "TRAVOLTA/CAGE" in "Face Off" or "DENIRO/PACINO" in "Heat" kind of billing. I'm pretty sure in this context and not to mention her highly recognizable face, everyone will know who they are talking about.
