Green Lantern Gets To Tease You With Oath-Filled Character Posters
Marvel Studios and their big roll-out of THOR, CAPTAIN AMERICA, and THE AVENGERS may have easily been the talk of Comic-Con this year, but earlier in the weekend, the crew from GREEN LANTERN managed to hold their own, debuting a small amount of footage from DC Comics’ re-entry into the comic book movie world through Warner Bros. The fans were able to see Ryan Reynolds in action as the superhero, with the teasing cut met with mostly positive reaction, as the debate continues to rage on over the look of Green Lantern’s costume.
Now that the convention is in the books though, Warner Bros. has to get something out to get those of us who weren’t in attendance slightly excited as well. I’d love to see the Comic-Con panel, complete with movie footage… but I guess I could settle for some teaser posters that feature 4 of the main characters of the first film, in addition to segments of the Green Lantern oath, that, when properly aligned, form the Green Lantern logo.
I think more could have been done here to get those who aren’t that familiar with Green Lantern, other than by name, excited about what’s to come, but these one sheets are more fan-driven, which isn’t necessarily a bad strategy. After all, if you can please the fans, then the rest will come. They don’t want to miss out on a really good superhero movie in the middle of the summer. The peer pressure is unbearable by then. But these are effective for their most basic purpose – making you aware that GREEN LANTERN is on the way.
