Have The New Scream Masks Been Revealed?
It wasn’t long ago that word began circulating that 2 new Ghost Face masks could be introduced in SCREAM 4. There was no word as to what they might look like, where they might come from, or the reasoning behind any possible changes, but, whether Wes Craven is screwing with us or not, a pair of new Scream masks have popped up on line, leading to speculation that they are it.
Wes Craven tweeted a now-missing picture of his cat keeping the company of the original mask, in addition to a Scarecrow variation and a Zombie variation (via The RPF). To further the rumor, BuyCostumes.com has added both costumes to their inventory, or at least trying to, as each (Scarecrow and Zombie) is currently out of stock (Sold out? Short supplied by the manufacturer who revealed the mask plans?) until late August.
I’m not exactly sure how these 2 different takes on the original look would fit into the sequel, unless it’s some jab at Rob Zombie’s altered rendition of Mike Myers and… well, I don’t have a good excuse for the Scarecrow, unless they really need to frighten the birds away from the crops in Woodsboro, and this mask is the most effective way they’ve come up with.
This could all be a diversion, misleading us as to what the 2 new masks might look like. This could all be Wes Craven’s trickery to keep us guessing as to what might happen in SCREAM 4, which shouldn’t sound that far-fetched, considering how much security has been put forth to lock down plot details for the film.
However, at least one interesting note has come out from the set (via Latino Review). A set piece promoting and advertising a book signing by Sidney Prescott for a work entitled Out of Darkness: A True Story of Survival would lead you to believe that Neve Campbell’s heroine has become an author, who finally decided to cash in on her ordeal by recounting the events of the original trilogy. This would explain the interest in Sidney Prescott once again and her introduction back into the series, but, beyond that… there’s not much information out there.
I’m still of the opinion that Neve Campbell will neither be the killer nor be killed in SCREAM 4, because that’d be too obvious.

if that scarecrow thing is in the movie you can count me out on this one
