Hobo With A Shotgun Debuts With A Blood-Spurting, Head-Ripping Trailer
Most of us weren’t lucky enough to ever catch a glimpse of HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN, but attached to some prints of GRINDHOUSE (mostly in Canada) during its theatrical run as a fake trailer about a a homeless man who dishes out some vigilante justice by cleaning up the city from pimps and prostitutes and other unsavory elements of society. The trailer was made by Jason Eisener, John Davies, and Rob Cotterill, who won a contest held by Robert Rodriguez at South by Southwest that year to create the best GRINDHOUSE trailer.
Well, someone thought that idea was fantastic, and, as a result, Eisener got the greenlight to turn HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN into an actual film, written by his partner-in-crime John Davies, that Alliance Films is behind. Rutger Hauer was cast as the hobo, and shooting got underway.
Now, thanks to Ain’t It Cool News, the first trailer for the film has debuted, and, if you love GRINDHOUSE and, after this weekend, you love MACHETE, you are absolutely going to love HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN. This actually seems to take that Grindhouse style of B-movies to another level entirely, and there is enough blood splattering, enough body squishing, enough hangings, and enough shotgun blasts to have you eager to see more… much, much more.
The foot smash and the towing decapitation have me sold, and Hauer looks to be as unhinged and over the edge as was necessary in THE HITCHER. All that adds up to what The Kidd hopes will be something good. I haven’t been let down by anything to come out of GRINDHOUSE so far… so I’d like to think HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN will carry the torch well.

This is the good news I wanted to hear today
