Kristen Bell Tries To Spin Her Involvement In Scream 4
Now that USA Today absolutely ruined the surprise of Kristen Bell and Anna Paquin having cameos in SCREAM 4, after other outlets kept the lid on the scoop, it only makes sense for someone associated with the film to try to spin exactly what their involvement is in the movie, and go on some sort of damage control, so as to not have everything revealed about their participation. Enter Kristen Bell, who is more than happy to take the job.
In an interview with Parade to promote YOU AGAIN, talks eventually moved onto SCREAM 4, and Bell did her best in trying to convince us that it’s not at all what we think… well, maybe some of what we think, but… well, here’s her words. “I am in the movie, I will say that. I don’t know if I can say much more than that but it’s a really, really fun movie and everyone loves it as much as they did the first one.” And when asked if she’d be going the Drew Barrymore route from the first film, she responded, “It doesn’t go down like you think it does. But it was fun doing it, that’s what I’ll say. I loved being a part of the movie.”
I’m not exactly sure what all of that means, but I think it’s safe to deduce from her carefully chosen words that she won’t be disemboweled and hung like Casey Becker in SCREAM… but all other possibilities are on the table.
There’s no mention of Anna Paquin’s role in the sequel, so at least Wes Craven has been able to save some sense of mystery as to what is going on here. Are they going to get killed at the same time? Are they even in the same scene? Is one of them a killer? Ah… the questions persist, and that’s at least some good news for SCREAM 4. After all, who wants to go into a horror movie wanting to know everything before they even walk in the door? Besides the douchebags over at USA Today apparently.
