Liam Neeson Keeps Battleship Afloat For Now
Liam Neeson is a highly regarded, well-respected actor. He has made countless films over the years where he’s been absolutely fantastic, out-acting everyone who shares screen time with him, and, when his name is attached to a movie, you take it a little more seriously, because of his tremendous acting talents.
That’s why The Kidd is stunned, bewildered, shocked, and confused that Liam Neeson would sign on to be a part of Universal’s BATTLESHIP, their adaptation of the board game that has you putting pegs in holes and making explosion noises, all while pretending you’re also sinking your buddy’s fleet of plastic boats. According to Deadline Hollywood, Neeson would play Admiral Shane (Is that his first name or last name? Because you should never trust a guy with 2 first names), who would be dad to Brooklyn Decker’s character, who incidentally is engaged to Taylor Kitsch’s character… and I imagine they’re all on the same boat. And if you’re not imagining an Aerosmith song playing over the sequence where Neeson sacrifices his life for his little girl’s happiness, so she can be with the guy she loves, even though her dad thought he was a jerk-off to this point… well, then you’re just not trying.
The Rihanna pics from the set looked ridiculous. The budget ($200 million) they’re spending on this flick is outrageous. Seriously… what good can come from this? Because, unless they have something phenomenal hiding up their sleeves – something I highly doubt – then this has all the makings of being the big summer blockbuster joke of 2012. WILD WILD WEST, anyone?
