Lockout Trailer Brings Escape From New York Into Outer Space
The new trailer for LOCKOUT, starring Guy Pearce and Maggie Grace, couldn’t possibly reek anymore of John Carpenter’s ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK unless it was actually called ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK. Then again, ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK is pretty bad-ass, introducing the world to Kurt Russell’s Snake Plissken… this modern sci-fi action flick has Pearce in the role, which isn’t a bad substitute. Look at the films that feature Guy Pearce quite prominently – MEMENTO, L.A. CONFIDENTIAL… enough said. Movies that have Pearce in the lead are just better off, and so I’m hoping that LOCK-OUT will at least translate into a fun trip to the movies to watch the President’s daughter, this time, rescued by the only guy capable of doing so, who of course isn’t in the best standing with the law. That works for me.
LOCKOUT, co-directed by James Mather and Stephen St. Leger, opens on April 20.
