Michael Bay Plans To Make You Dizzy With His Own Alien Movie
Hollywood goes through these cycles, where every studio copies each other, and we get a lot of movies all similar in subject matter. In the past, we’ve had competing volcano movies, competing meteor movies, etc. The craze now is aliens, and guess who’s about to enter the foray? Michael Bay.
Bay and his production company Platinum Dune are set to produce a film known simply as CONFIDENTIAL ALIEN PROJECT currently, with the only details about the plot being that it somehow in some way deals with alien abductions. Paramount has snatched up the rights to the pitch, according to the Hollywood Reporter, based on an idea by first-time writer Bobby Glickert. The search is on for another writer to pen the script, which means Glickert may just get upped to executive producer status, and then the search will be on for a director, something it looks like Michael Bay’s name won’t be involved in as a candidate.
Bay is currently busy filming TRANSFORMERS 3, also for Paramount, and there’s no telling what he’ll be doing next, although BAD BOYS 3 keeps getting floated out there. Platinum Dunes, on the other hand, will make anything they can get their hands on, but it’s at least good to see them handling an original idea for once, as opposed to ruining the legacy of another horror franchise with an unnecessary remake.
And, if you weren’t aware of all the alien movies on tap, we’ve got SKYLINE, BATTLE: LOS ANGELES, COWBOYS & ALIENS, I AM NUMBER FOUR, MEN IN BLACK 3, and Oren Peli’s AREA 51 all in the works… not to mention BATTLESHIP.
Yep… that’s a lot of aliens preparing to enter our borders in the next several years. They’d better not land in Arizona, or they’ll be in deep shit without proper identification.
