Owen Wilson And Vince Vaughn Are Back For A New Comedy With Shawn Levy Directing
I loved WEDDING CRASHERS back in 2005. Hell, I saw it in theatres and thoroughly enjoyed the hell out of it. All that nudity from all those beautiful women really made it all the more enjoyable… plus it gave me another look at the gorgeous Rachel McAdams. (At that point, I hadn’t seen MEAN GIRLS and I still haven’t seen THE NOTEBOOK. At the point, the only movie I saw her in was THE HOT CHICK). The strange part about this flick is that individually, I’m not that big of a fan of either Owen Wilson or Vince Vaughn, but together, they were fucking hysterical. Therefore, this news is promising.
The Vulture is telling us that both men are back to star in a new comedy written by Vaughn, entitled INTERNS. The flick will probably be helmed by Shawn Levy and looks to be picked up by Fox soon. Apparently, both Vaughn and Levy are coming off failed projects. In August of 2011, it seemed Fox was getting ready for their adaptation of FRANKENSTEIN with Levy directing, but decided not to pursue it when Levy submitted for a budget of $80 million. Vaughn was set to star in a flick called THE INSANE LAWS, but was abandoned also because of budgetary concerns.
The flick will center on Vaughn and Wilson, both of which are in their 40′s. After being laid off from a company they’ve been working for most of their lives, they decide to go pursue a different career path, at a technologically advanced company very similar to a famous phenomenon that starts with the letter G. Here, we are privy to their adventures competing with a younger and more savvy generation.
As much as I enjoy the idea of these two coming back together, the premise seems less than interesting. Wilson has already went that route of playing an older guy going through something of a midlife crisis with HALL PASS, and that wasn’t great. Again, I just have to wait for some footage to make any real judgments about this.
