Well, in light of this, well-known Variety writer, Jeff Sneider decided to tweet out loud about the fact that Russell Crowe “MIGHT” be playing Robocop, in the upcoming reboot. He seemed particularly excited about it.

However, not too long after that was tweeted, a fan asked Crowe via Twitter if he was, in fact, in line to play the iconic cyborg police officer. Crowe responded with a very blunt “no,” without any further explanation… Well, that makes it as succinct as possible. You can’t argue with that.

I guess that is a bit of a disappointment considering he seemed like he would have been bad-ass in ROBOCOP. I would have never really thought of him in the role, but when it came up, it seems like a relatively good match. And it’s not particularly set in stone, because there’s always the possibility that at the moment he’s not in talks, but a few months down the line, when casting is underway, they might give Mr. Crowe the call. You never know. As for Jeff Sneider, that’s some serious egg on his face.
