Scarlett Johansson And Blake Lively Battle To Share Gravity With Robert Downey Jr.
Robert Downey Jr. is already attached to star in the next film from Alfonso Cuaron, GRAVITY, for Warner Bros. However, he’s going to need a leading lady, whose character, in fact, is actually more important to the overall story of the film. GRAVITY “revolves around astronauts repairing the Hubble telescope who are hit with an avalanche of satellite junk. In a plot akin to ‘Cast Away,’ the surviving astronaut must fight her way back to Earth, where she hopes to reunite with her daughter.” The search for that female astronaut is apparently down to 2, reports The Hollywood Reporter – Scarlett Johansson and Blake Lively.
Both actresses tested for the role, a part Angelina Jolie turned down earlier in its development. Johansson has worked on a RDJ film before, and will continue doing so as Black Widow within the Marvel Movie Universe. She already made her debut in IRON MAN 2, and has been announced as part of the cast of THE AVENGERS. Lively, on the other hand, has gotten her foot in the door as part of a different superhero franchise altogether, going the DC Comics route as the love interest of Ryan Reynolds in GREEN LANTERN.
