Some Promising Rumors For Marvel’s Avengers
The San Diego Comic-Con is next month, and it wouldn’t surprise The Kidd one bit if Marvel makes some big announcements concerning THE AVENGERS. Some footage from THOR is probably a given, and you might even get a tiny taste of something CAPTAIN AMERICA-related. But THE AVENGERS will be headed in front of cameras sometime next year, most likely before Comic-Con comes up on the calendar again, so this would be the perfect opportunity to unveil any plans or details to the fans at this year’s event.
However, ComicBookMovie.com is running word from a “well trusted source close to Marvel Studios” that negotiations are nearly complete to officially cast two yet-to-be-seen superheroes in the Marvel Universe – Ant-Man and Wasp. Nathan Fillion (SERENITY and CASTLE) is allegedly in talks to play Dr. Henry “Hank” Pym, whose alter-ego is Ant-Man, one of the original Avengers. As for who would be Janet Van Dyne, the name being tossed around now is none other than the Desperate Housewife herself, Eva Longoria. Van Dyne incidentally is Wasp, again one of the original Avengers.
There’s been no word to this point about introducing new Marvel characters heading into THE AVENGERS other than Thor and Captain America, but it’d make sense if that ensemble picture is Marvel’s next big movie, they’d want to do it correctly, which means bringing in Ant-Man and Wasp. No confirmation has been made about the characters or the actors attached to the roles thus far, so take it as nothing more than a rumor until Marvel states otherwise. But this could be some interesting casting for THE AVENGERS, if you don’t hold OVER HER DEAD BODY against Longoria.
Because I can, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to show off some visuals of Fillion and Longoria to satisfy the ladies and the gentlemen. But then I thought better of it, and only Longoria it is… but I think I got a little carried away, for good reason though.
