The Haunted Mansion Reboot Gets A Poster And A del Toro Update
Following the announcement of Guillermo del Toro signing up with Disney to write and produce a reboot of THE HAUNTED MANSION, 999 lucky souls were able to get their hands on a limited edition one sheet created just for the announcement at Comic-Con. Shock Till You Drop was able to land a look at the poster, which may not show much, but it gives a pretty clear indication as to the feel del Toro is going for to replace the Eddie Murphy debacle.
He has stated that he wants the story to be centered around the legendary Hatbox Ghost that hasn’t been seen in action since the beginning days of the Disneyland attraction, and that’s obvious by his appearance in the poster. As a fan of the ride, The Kidd is dying to see what del Toro has in mind for bringing The Haunted Mansion to life in a movie. Will we see the dancing ghosts? The Bride? What elements of the attraction will del Toro bring into play to properly pay tribute?
In addition, to clarify some of the rumors going around about Guillermo del Toro’s involvement in THE HAUNTED MANSION, he is set to only write and produce the film, not direct. At the panel for DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK, del Toro confirmed that his next film would actually be a secret horror movie that he’ll be shooting sometime next year. I doubt Disney is going to hold progress on THE HAUNTED MANSION, in the hopes that del Toro might want to direct the picture down the line. They’ll take his creative input in trying to revive a dead brand, and work with him in finding the perfect candidate to direct. After all, some del Toro is better than none.
i think this is going to be a great movie.hope they do this one in 3d.a haunted mansion reboot in 3d.im all for it.the hatbox ghost storyboard is a great idea.cause it was a character they used in the disneyland version ride that was in it for a while then was removed.cause of being to frightning to little ones.
