The Kidd Rounds Up The Rootinest Tootinest Winners Of The Toy Story 3 Contest
This was tough… really tough. A lot of entries came pouring in at the last minute for The Kidd’s TOY STORY 3 contest, and each one deserved its fair share of time and attention, being that you went back to some unhappy times to dredge up stories about the toy that got away, the one you never were able to land as a kid. I appreciate you all sharing these tales with me, as the majority of them did indeed suck. I really hope that a lot of you go out of your way to hunt down those missing toys, so you can be able to say that finally you got it. Believe me… the satisfaction you’ll get from it will be more than you know.
For most of the day, while a lot of you were out getting to experience TOY STORY 3 in theatres (by the way, it’s awesome), The Kidd was going back and forth on a few of these entries and stories, trying to decide which ones were the best. It was tough, but some of them eliminated themselves from the running, due to the lack of proper information needed for a valid entry into the contest. And then there were some that, while telling a heartbreaking tale, just were missing something. The only way I could explain it is that they weren’t it. And that put it down to a final 4. The top 2 were never really in danger, as they were the two that stood out from the beginning, including one that was a direct match for The Kidd’s toy that got away (mine was in Bigfoot form), which made it a virtual shoo-in.
But, in weighing the pros and cons of each story and each particular toy, even bringing in the wife to offer up her opinion, there finally was something that raised one of the stories to a higher level, and I seemed to have narrowed the search down to the final 3… but then something happened. In reviewing the entry in its entirety, it was missing something crucial – a full address. One entry is out, the other back in in what can only be described as a comeback victory, proving yet again that following the contest instructions exactly can be the difference between winning and leaving empty-handed.
Up for grabs was a TOY STORY 3 shirt and a full-blown double-sided TOY STORY 3 one sheet, and, after quite a bit of deliberation, here are your winners:
- Nerissa Cutler
The thing that I always wanted but never got was a Power Wheels Barbie Motor Car. Why is that you say? Well, when I was a little girl I loved Barbie. I had tons of them and even stole my sister’s sometimes to play with as well. I had the really 90′s Barbie Motor Home and the front end popped out into a convertible car to drive your Barbies in. I always wanted the real thing and when they came out with the first battery powered cars that YOU could ACTUALLY drive, that was totally cool. But I never got one, because it was way too expensive as well as my mom is totally nuts and would never let us play outside in our front yard or even cross the street to go to a friends house alone. It made sense I wasn’t going to get a toy that allowed me to drive something all on my own. That is the one toy I wanted but never got.
- Crystal Luna
True story. When I was about 7 or 8 years old, I was pretty much the only kid on my block without a POGO STICK! I envied all the little jerks that had one. There they were everyday after school just hopping by. My parents never got me one because they thought it would be dangerous. And come to find out, it kind of was because I busted my butt trying to hop on the one my friend owned. (Sigh) Yeah. The beloved Pogo Stick. The one that got away.
- Chris Norfolk
Peter Venkman (Real Ghostbusters toy from the cartoon)….I had Ray, Egon, and Winston, but never got Peter. And I wanted him so bad, not because he was the only one I was missing, but because he was my favorite. That would be like having Raphael, Donatello, and Leonardo, and not having my favorite turtle Michelangelo. MASS HYSTERIA!!!!!! Till this day I look for him on eBay, and keep getting outbid…..one day I’ll get him.
That’s it. That’s the list.
Congratulations to our winners.
Thank you once again to Disney and Pixar for hooking us up with such cool stuff, and, if you haven’t checked out TOY STORY 3, you absolutely want to do so immediately, because it really is that good (The Kidd’s TOY STORY 3 review can be read HERE).

ohhhh yeeeaaahhhh….. our painful childhood memories brought us awesome prizes…..i got some action figures around my room, in cases and what not, sometimes when i come home a few of them are laying down or out of place. Either there is a ghost in here that plays with them, or they come to life and do their own thing….im voting the second but both sound cool.
