The Odds Are In Your Favor To See The First Breaking Dawn Part 2 Trailer Attached To The Hunger Games
Twi-hards continue to be up in arms by all this talk about a sixth TWILIGHT film. Clearly this is something being pushed by Lionsgate now that they’ve purchased Summit Entertainment, because everyone is aware of how much bank the TWILIGHT films bring in, and who doesn’t like money? However, that would require Stephenie Meyer to write another book, which seems unlikely since the entire saga wraps up rather nicely. Meyer would have to create something from nothing for these characters moving forward, as that whole period of their lives is done. Lionsgate would love to do it, but I’d also love to hit the $310 million Powerball jackpot. It doesn’t mean it’s going to happen.
Even if Meyer was tempted to go back into this world of sparkly vampires, the film would require them to lock up new deals with all of the cast, and, while Taylor Lautner would love to stick with TWILIGHT as long as he can, since it hides his inability to act greater than any other film properties, I have a hard time believing Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson want to continue playing Bella and Edward any longer than they’re contractually required. I don’t care how much money is thrown at them, the second part of BREAKING DAWN looks to be the final nail in the coffin of THE TWILIGHT SAGA, and I get the feeling Pattinson and Stewart are thrilled about that. So, rest assured, TWILIGHT fans… there’s no use getting yourselves worked up about another TWILIGHT book or film until something actually materializes on that front.
However, you can start to get yourselves amped up for the premiere of the first BREAKING DAWN PART 2 trailer, which is set to debut in front of THE HUNGER GAMES, announced Lionsgate motion picture group co-chair Rob Friedman on a Lionsgate analyst call Thursday (per The Hollywood Reporter). Now that Lionsgate owns THE TWILIGHT SAGA, it makes perfect sense to start building the excitement in front of a franchise that already has its fair share of fandom building. THE HUNGER GAMES caters mostly to that young female adult audience that THE TWILIGHT SAGA was built upon, so this is basically killing two birds with one stone. I wonder how much of a crossover audience there is between fans of the books, but, with Twi-hards about to lose a franchise of their own, this is Lionsgate’s chance to get them to hop on something else new from the beginning.
Mark your calendars, Twi-hards. March 23 officially is the beginning of the end.
