Transformers 3 Opens Like This…
We’re just a little under a year away from TRANSFORMERS 3, and, other than the replacement of Megan Fox with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, it’s been all quiet on the Michael Bay front. That is, it was all quiet until word of the opening sequence of TRANSFORMERS 3 started making its way around.
Devin Faraci at CHUD landed the spoiler, and it sounds pretty cool, far cooler than anything that existed in TRANSFORMERS 2 and right on par with what was good with the first film… which isn’t surprising, because the rumblings are that Spielberg was the one who came up with this opening scene. Is it enough to make up for the horrendous package that was REVENGE OF THE FALLEN? Absolutely not. But, with TRANSFORMERS 3 kicking off in pretty bad-ass fashion, it might be a sign that the franchise is turning in the right direction for next summer’s sequel.
Therefore, if you don’t want to know what happens in the first few minutes of TRANSFORMERS 3, avert your eyes and go read another story or one of my brutally honest reviews. I understand if you want to go in fresh, so here is your final warning to get the hell out of here.
SPOILER ALERT
“There’s a disturbance on the Moon. A robot shaped disturbance. Scientists on Earth see this and the information gets passed up the chain of command. In the White House men in black suits are breathlessly running through the halls, and they burst into the Oval Office. The president is behind the desk, back turned to the door, looking out the window. One of the men tells the president, ‘Sir, something’s happened on the Moon!’ The president turns around. It’s John F. Kennedy… Yes, the opening scene of Transformers 3 takes place in 1961 or 1962. The gist of the story has to do with the Transformers’ involvement in the space race, and this is the reason why JFK was so hot to make sure America was the first to the Moon.”
This now explains Bay setting up a shoot at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, as that’s sure to tie into things. As for the rest of the film, Bay looks to be keeping things fairly tight, although I wouldn’t be surprised to see him show up at Comic-Con with something to tease the fans and get them thinking positively after their collective pissed-off-ed-ness at TRANSFORMERS 2.
