Want To Experience The Event? Here’s Your Chance
What is THE EVENT?
I don’t know… and neither do you. We’re not supposed to. However, we should tune in and make an attempt to find out, satisfying our own curiosity, because unanswered questions just make us feel uncomfortable. That’s what NBC is banking on with their new series THE EVENT, which premieres this fall on Monday nights. And The Kidd’s got to admit… they’ve got me interested. I’m planning to give the first few episodes a whirl to see how they play, as I am always out for some good television. It sure as hell beat anything labeled as “reality TV.”
Now that the doldrums of summer TV are over, you can bid farewell to reruns and SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE LIKE YOUR NEIGHBOR WHO HAPPENS TO BE A BACHELOR WHO ALSO RUNS A PAWN SHOP AND USED TO BE MARRIED TO A REAL HOUSEWIFE OF SOME COUNTY… okay, well maybe just say goodbye to the reruns. That means new programming is going to be available to you at every corner, giving you the opportunity to find and stick with the good ones, while casting aside those that are awful.
The Kidd has your chance to make a decision on one such show – THE EVENT. NBC has given The Kidd to screen the very 1st episode of the series for you. My guess is that they think once you make it through 1 episode, you won’t be able to help yourself, because you’ll be hooked. Maybe you will, and maybe you won’t, but I figured it would be one hell of an event to give you the platform to make that choice.
Want a better sense of what to expect from THE EVENT? Perhaps this synopsis will answer some questions:
Jump aboard the high-octane conspiracy thriller that follows Sean Walker (Jason Ritter, The Class) as he investigates the disappearance of his would-be fiancée Leila (Sarah Roemer, Disturbia), unwittingly exposing a cover-up so big it could change the fate of all mankind.
Sean’s quest sends ripples through the lives of an eclectic band of strangers, including newly-elected U.S. President Elias Martinez (Blair Underwood, In Treatment) and Sophia Maguire (Laura Innes, ER), the leader of a mysterious group of detainees. Scott Patterson (Gilmore Girls), Ian Anthony Dale (Daybreak), Clifton Collins, Jr. (Star Trek), Taylor Cole (The Violent Kind), Lisa Vidal (The Division), Bill Smitrovich (The Practice) and Željko Ivanek (Damages) also star.
From Nick Wauters (The 4400), Steve Stark (Medium), Jeffrey Reiner (Friday Night Lights) and Evan Katz (24)comes a suspense-filled journey where the answers only lead to bigger questions.
Nope. I still have no idea what THE EVENT is, and now I have more questions. Hopefully, episode 1 can get on with starting to answer some of them.
The Kidd is hosting a screening of NBC’s THE EVENT, Tuesday night, August 31, at 7:30 p.m., at the AMC Sunset Place 24 in South Miami. That’s right… TV on a movie screen (the way The Kidd watches it within the Infamous Headquarters), and you’ll get to see it far before everyone else, who has to wait until September 20, when the show officially premieres on the network. This is your chance to win passes (good for you and a guest) to experience THE EVENT. Oh, and to top it all off, The Kidd is going to throw in a popcorn and soda for you to enjoy while you’re checking it out. Worth playing for? Then let’s get to it.
All of the promos seem to indicate that THE EVENT is what it says it is… some life-changing, life-altering moment in history that will change the fate of mankind as we know it. There have only been a handful of such events that have taken place ever, but THE EVENT is going to be one of them. And that got The Kidd to thinking… in a smaller sense, there are probably a handful of major events that have helped change the fate of your life. They have been so important, so vital to who you are and where you find yourself in life, that they could easily be described as “The Event.” I want to hear about these occasions that have impacted your very being.
So, get to writing, and let me know about what you consider to be the major happening of your life, the event above all events that had the most significant bearing on you. Give me your story. From there, I’ll go through the entries, picking the best, the most heartfelt, the most sincere, the most unbelievable – basically what resonates with me for whatever reason – and those people will be given the chance to experience THE EVENT with The Kidd.
E-mail your entries to Contests@InfamousKidd.com with the following subject line exactly:
MY EVENT
If you don’t have that subject line exactly, then you don’t have an entry. So cut and paste it, if you must, and be sure you have it perfectly, in all CAPS, or your entry will never even reach us. There’s a specific reason for the subject line needing to be exact, so, if you can’t even follow our first simple instruction than you are done before you ever really got going.
Next, be sure to include your name. This is a MUST. If your entry has no name, it doesn’t exist. I can’t give prizes to people with no name. I also don’t search for names or hunt for names, so, if your name isn’t clearly visible on your entry, then you’re out. Your name must be in the body of your e-mail. If it’s anywhere else, that’s too bad for you.
The deadline for this contest is Friday, August 27, at 12:00 Noon EST. Winners will be notified via e-mail and also posted on the site that same afternoon. One entry per person per e-mail per name. Therefore, multiple or duplicate entries from duplicate or similar names will be disqualified, as we are able to see the names attached to the accounts you are sending your entries from. And, if you forget a piece of information and try to send it in later, that counts as a multiple, so get it right the first time. After all, I’m not writing these instructions up for my health.
Also, if you cannot attend this screening, do not enter. If you can’t get a babysitter, don’t enter. If you can’t get out of work early enough, don’t enter. If you have class, homework, chores, prior engagements, or previous commitments that would prevent you from attending this screening, do not enter… unless, of course, you’re comfortable being ineligible to enter and win any further screening passes. Therefore, enter at your own risk.
All decisions and rulings are those of The Kidd’s, and my word is final.
Let me hear your tale. Tell me all about your event, because it may just lead to you seeing THE EVENT.
Good luck.
