What Is Catfish?

I’ve probably checked out the trailer for CATFISH about 5 different times, including twice just before posting it up here, and I couldn’t tell you that I have even the slightest idea as to what CATFISH is about. Universal has what looks to be a true documentary on their hands about an online romance that then develops into more and then where it goes… once again, I haven’t the slightest idea.

The trailer definitely starts to turn slightly past the halfway point, and what once started out as kind of a pathetic tale starts to feel far more darker and mysterious. The quote clips add more intrigue to the whole thing, because, in the context of not knowing what CATFISH is about, they get you feeling that some bad shit is in the process of going down, but what that bad shit is… no clue. Is this about to turn into a real life horror? Is this going to get creepy rather quickly? The tonal shift is enough to get your heart pounding just watching the trailer, so once the full-length film hits, we can only hope it lives up to the expectations that were quickly trumped up from being non-existent.
