Will Smith Could Be Legend Once More
Is a sequel to I AM LEGEND really necessary? That would indicate a desire to see a continuation of the story from the point it left off. Did anyone find the ending to I AM LEGEND at all satisfying? Scratch that… did anyone even find the second half of I AM LEGEND satisfying?
In a rare occurrence, I was into a Will Smith movie the first time I saw it. In fact, I could have watched Will Smith roaming around the city with his dog all day, an urban CASTAWAY of sorts, with Smith fighting for survival in this post-apocalyptic setting. And then the CGI creatures show up, and it’s all downhill from there.
Akiva Goldsman and Overbrook Entertainment have closed deals with Warner Bros. to produce an I AM LEGEND sequel, according to Deadline, and the goal is to bring Will Smith back into the fold if Arash Amel’s script for the project meets Smith’s approval. But doesn’t Will Smith’s character blow up via hand grenade at the end? Oh, sorry… spoiler alert. That seems like a pretty difficult demise to come back from. Then again, it’s Hollywood. If the money is right, they’ll figure out a way.
