X-Men: First Class Mutates A Twilight Vampire
After the Taylor Lautner rumors were officially quashed by Bryan Singer, concerning Team Jacob’s potential inclusion in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, it appears director Matthew Vaughn was looking into THE TWILIGHT SAGA for one of his mutants anyway.
Edi Gathegi, who Twi-hards would recognize as the dreadlocked Laurent, has landed the role of Darwin in the X-Men prequel. According to Deadline Hollywood, who first reported the casting, Darwin is “the first bi-racial mutant (in the comic series), has the power of ‘reactive evolution,’ which allows him to adapt to any situation or environment. Plunged underwater, he’ll grow gills, he’ll gain night vision in pitch black and his skin grows fire retardant when burned.” Woohoo for racial harmony in the mutant world.
I’m not sure what a big role Darwin plays in the X-Men Universe, considering that, until this point, I had never heard of him, so perhaps he never makes it through the time it takes in order to get to the actual X-MEN movies. I guess we’ll have to wait and see, because it’d be a terrible pity if, even in the world of the X-Men, the black guy got killed off first. Oh, excuse me… the bi-racial guy.
